  Dr. M.G.Abhyankar

· Founder member and Honorary Director of the Centre.
· Former Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army.
· Founder, First Professor and Head of the Centre of Defence Studies, University of Pune.

· Guide for Doctoral Research on Defence Studies at this Centre.
· Officer at the Rajputana Rifles and severely wounded while fighting at the battle of Rathedaung in February 1943 in the Arakan Sector of Burma.
· Served in the Front Line during the Jammu and Kashmir Operations in 1947-48 and the Indo-PAk wars in 1965 and 1971.
· Served in the military wing of the United Nations Peace-Keeping Operations in the Congo, Zaire.
·Obtained Doctorate from the University of Arizona (1988) for his publication on the United Nations Operations in the Congo 1961 called Battlefield of Peace

Kunzru Centre has a provision for 3 Trustees one of which is the chairman.
The Executive Committee of 9 members is responsible for the running of the centre.

Academic Qualification: M.Sc (Defence Studies) Madras Professional: Graduate of NDA;
Naval Career: May 1966 - May 1997. Retired in rank of Commodore in 1997.
Work with Kunzru Centre: Assistant Director Kunzru Centre from 1993 and assisted in conduct of Training Courses for Ex Servicemen at Kunzru Centre
